Data Alignment for the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure

This project will address the lack of coherence of geospatial data from different sources. Its prime objective is to create the infrastructure service needed to achieve data alignment for providers involved in the new data portal, GEOREX. To this end, the project will develop tools for two operations: geometric correction and amalgamation of multi-source data. Both operations are necessary to bring data from different sources into alignment on the Internet with the data framework of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI). The new application will be accessible to all users of CGDI and will permit them to bring their data into alignment without first acquiring a specialized knowledge of the complex methodology involved. The project thus has significant potential for expanding the information available through the CGDI and for making geospatial data easier to use.
