Nova Scotia and GeoConnections to populate GeoNOVA portal

In conjunction with GeoConnections, Services Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (SNSMR) is cataloguing all provincial geospatial data resources. This project will create a comprehensive list of all provincial geospatial data resources that will allow data discovery and access of all data through one single-window Internet entry.

The GeoNOVA Data Discovery Services project is intended to compile and extend the work that has already been done by individual custodians and other agencies, including the Atlantic Coastal Zone Information Steering Committee (ACZISC), the National Forestry Information System (NFIS), the Canadian Geoscience Knowledge Network (CGKN), and the GeoConnections Discovery Portal (GDP). This project will also describe those data sources that have not yet been catalogued to the CGDI-endorsed standard. Creating this comprehensive list not only provides clients with key information to find data, but also serves as an important first step in delivering an effective GeoNOVA Portal. It will also ensure that comprehensive, high-quality geographic data will be discoverable through GeoNOVA as well as through the CGDI.
