Mikisew Cree

The Mikisew Cree First Nation’s (MCFN) social and environmental wellness is being impacted by massive oil and gas development on their traditional territory. In order to influence development to lessen its negative impact, the First Nation needs to develop a knowledge base within a modern information system. This project will assist the MCFN to establish a GIS enabled Traditional Knowledge and Land Use Study Data Centre. The information gathered and maintained in the data centre will be used to balance the economic, social and environmental needs of the community within their traditional territory.
