Request for Proposals: Critical Infrastructure Information Project

November 21 2006 - January 09 2007

GeoConnections is collaborating with the Canadian public safety and security community to identify location-based critical infrastructure information. Canada's critical infrastructure consists of those physical and information technology facilities, networks, services and assets which, if disrupted or destroyed, would have a serious impact on the health, safety, security or economic well-being of Canadians or the effective functioning of governments in Canada. Access and exchange of this information using the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure will allow the public safety and security community to share data between different levels of government and emergency agencies in order to predict, detect, prepare and respond to threats to public safety and security.

Natural Resources Canada has just issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to determine who the authoritative closest-to-source custodians are for infrastructure information and provide an approach for a national data model that will facilitate the exchange of location-based critical infrastructure information.
